When Should Dubai Businesses Start Planning Ramadan 2027 Social Media?

If you want your Ramadan 2027 social media to land, start planning now. Ramadan is expected to begin on 8 February 2027 in the UAE, which is about 123 days away from today, and the strongest Dubai brands will have their concept, budget and creative locked weeks before the month starts.

When is Ramadan 2027 in the UAE?

The UAE's Astronomy Centre expects Ramadan 2027 to begin on 8 February 2027, with Eid Al Fitr expected on Tuesday 9 March, or Wednesday 10 March if the crescent is not sighted. These dates are predictions, so the official announcement can move them by a day. That is why I build every Ramadan calendar with a one-day buffer on the first and last posts.

The timing is also unusual. Ramadan 2027 follows straight after the Dubai Shopping Festival and the January content rush, so your production window in December and January is already crowded. Leave planning until January and you will be competing with every other brand for designers, videographers and ad inventory.

The planning timeline I recommend

Work backwards from 8 February. This is the runway I use for Dubai and UAE clients:

  • By 15 November (85 days out): agree the theme, the offer and the budget. Decide whether you are running awareness, sales or both.
  • By 20 December (50 days out): finish the main shoot. Capture photo and video for the whole month in one or two sessions, because filming during Ramadan itself is slower.
  • By 15 January (24 days out): lock all graphic design and copy, in English and Arabic, and get your Advertiser Permit and approvals sorted.
  • From 25 January (14 days out): teaser content and the countdown, so your audience is warm before the first day.

What changes on social media during Ramadan

Behaviour shifts across the UAE during the holy month. Regional studies have long reported social media use rising by around 30 percent, with activity concentrated in the evening around iftar and late into the night before suhoor. Working hours are shorter and daytime attention drops, so the post that worked at 1pm in January will often be ignored in February.

In practice, that means moving your key posts to the evening, keeping videos short and warm, and replying to comments faster, because people have more time to chat once the fast is broken. Check your own insights too, since every audience is slightly different.

What to post, and what to avoid

Ramadan content works best when it feels generous rather than salesy. Good formats for Dubai businesses include iftar and suhoor ideas, gratitude and community stories, behind the scenes content with your team, useful guides and gentle, well-timed offers. Bilingual posts are worth the effort here, and I would use Gulf Arabic rather than formal Arabic for captions, as I explain in my guide to Arabic or English on social media in the UAE.

Avoid showing people eating or drinking in daytime scenes, avoid loud discount-first messaging, and avoid recycling a generic greeting template. A simple, well-designed Ramadan Kareem post is fine. A hard-sell banner in the first week usually is not.

Budget and permits

Ramadan is one of the busiest advertising periods in the region, so expect ad costs to climb as the month approaches. Book your boosted budget early and spread it across the month rather than spending it all in week one. Also remember that from February 2026 most UAE businesses promoting on social need a valid Advertiser Permit, and that applies to your Ramadan campaigns too.

Key takeaways

  • Ramadan 2027 is expected to start on 8 February, with Eid Al Fitr on 9 or 10 March.
  • Agree concept and budget by mid-November, shoot by 20 December and lock creative by 15 January.
  • Move your key posts to the evening and keep the tone generous, not salesy.
  • Build in a one-day buffer, because the dates depend on moon sighting.
  • Check your Advertiser Permit before you boost anything.
