Should Your Dubai Business Post on YouTube Shorts in 2026?

Should Your Dubai Business Post on YouTube Shorts in 2026?

Yes, if you are already making Reels or TikToks. YouTube reaches around 96% of UAE internet users and Shorts now serves more than 200 billion views a day, so reposting vertical video you have already paid to produce is the cheapest distribution a Dubai business has available. The catch is that YouTube is a search engine, not a feed, and treating it like Instagram is exactly why most UAE brands get nothing back from it.

The UAE is one of the heaviest YouTube markets in the world

Internet penetration in the UAE sits at around 99% of the population, and YouTube reaches roughly 96% of those internet users. UAE viewers average about 71 minutes of YouTube a day, among the highest per-capita watch time of any country measured, and Arabic-language channels have grown by roughly 44% in number between 2024 and 2026.

Put plainly, your customer in Dubai is on YouTube every day. The only question is whether you show up there.

Shorts is a different platform to the one you ignored in 2024

Shorts now reaches about 2 billion monthly users and serves over 200 billion views a day. The maximum length went from 60 seconds to three minutes in late 2024, so the same asset can sit on Reels, TikTok and Shorts without being re-edited. If you already run content creation for social, the cost of a third platform is a few minutes of uploading.

That is the whole argument for most businesses. You are not building a new channel from scratch, you are stopping content you already own from being binned after 48 hours on Instagram.

The real reason to be on YouTube in 2026 is AI search

This is the part almost nobody in Dubai has caught up with. YouTube is now the single most-cited domain in Google AI Overviews, appearing in roughly 29.5% of them, and it is referenced far more than any other video platform across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. At the same time, somewhere between 58% and 60% of Google searches now end without a click.

The traffic model has changed. You are no longer only competing for a blue link, you are competing to be the source an AI engine quotes, and a clear, well-titled Short answering a real customer question is one of the few assets that gets pulled into those answers. There is more on this in my guide to getting your business found by ChatGPT and AI search.

The second advantage is shelf life. An Instagram Reel is finished in two days. A Short answering "how much does a villa deep clean cost in Dubai" can still be bringing you enquiries in 2028.

What actually works on Shorts, and what does not

Four things decide whether a Short travels:

  • Completion rate, not length. The algorithm rewards people watching to the end. 2026 data shows clips in the 50 to 60 second range earning close to 22 times the views of clips under 10 seconds, and most viral Shorts land between 25 and 60 seconds.
  • The first two seconds. Open on the answer or the problem. No logo stings, no "hi guys".
  • Titles written as searches. On Instagram a caption is a caption. On YouTube the title is a query. "Dubai Marina rent 2026" beats "New content, link in bio" every time.
  • No competitor watermarks. Export clean from your editor. YouTube visibly downranks content stamped with another platform's logo.

One practical note: licensed music on Shorts is still capped at 60 seconds, so anything longer needs original or royalty-free audio.

Do not do it for the ad revenue

Shorts monetisation is not the point for a business. Creators earn roughly $0.01 to $0.06 per 1,000 Shorts views at a 45% revenue share, and you need 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million valid Shorts views in 90 days to even qualify. One booking from a UAE customer is worth more than a million views of ad revenue. Judge the channel on enquiries, not RPM.

A realistic setup for a Dubai business

Here is roughly what I set up for clients:

  • Run one content day a month and come away with 8 to 10 vertical clips. If you want the real numbers on this, see my breakdown of what it costs to make a Reel in Dubai.
  • Post 2 to 3 Shorts a week. That is a month covered from one shoot.
  • Set the channel up once: branded banner, an About section naming your service and city, playlists grouped by the questions you get asked, and your website and WhatsApp in the channel links.
  • Answer one real customer question per clip. Price, process, mistake, comparison. That is what gets searched and what gets quoted.

None of that needs a separate budget line if your social media management and content creation are already being handled properly. It is the same footage, cut and labelled differently.

Key takeaways

  • YouTube reaches around 96% of UAE internet users, who watch about 71 minutes a day.
  • Shorts serves over 200 billion views daily and now allows clips up to three minutes.
  • YouTube is cited in roughly 29.5% of Google AI Overviews, more than any other domain.
  • 25 to 60 seconds is the sweet spot. Completion rate beats length every time.
  • Ignore Shorts ad revenue at $0.01 to $0.06 per 1,000 views and measure enquiries instead.
  • Write titles as search terms, and never upload with a TikTok watermark on it.

So, is it worth it?

If you are producing vertical video already, yes. It is the highest-return 20 minutes a week in your content calendar. If you are not producing video at all yet, fix that first, because Shorts is a distribution channel and it has nothing to distribute until you have something worth watching. If you want that handled properly, have a look at my packages.

Frequently asked questions

Should a small Dubai business bother with YouTube Shorts?

Yes, if you are already producing vertical video for Instagram or TikTok. Re-uploading those clips to YouTube Shorts costs you almost nothing extra and puts them in front of an audience where YouTube reaches around 96% of UAE internet users.

How long should a YouTube Short be in 2026?

The limit is three minutes, but 25 to 60 seconds performs best. Completion rate is what the algorithm rewards, and 2026 data shows clips in the 50 to 60 second range earning close to 22 times the views of clips under 10 seconds.

Can I just repost my Instagram Reels to YouTube Shorts?

You can, but strip any TikTok or Instagram watermark first and rewrite the title and description as search terms rather than captions. YouTube downranks visibly recycled content and reads the title as a query, not a caption.

How much money can a UAE business make from YouTube Shorts?

Very little directly. Shorts pays roughly $0.01 to $0.06 per 1,000 views at a 45% revenue share, so treat the channel as a discovery and search asset rather than an income stream.
