How Do You Get More Google Reviews for Your Dubai Business in 2026?
You get more Google reviews by asking every happy customer, within 24 hours of the moment they are happiest, using a one-tap link. That is genuinely most of it. Ninety-seven per cent of people now read reviews before choosing a local business, and in Dubai your Google listing is usually the first thing a customer sees, ahead of your website and ahead of your Instagram. Most businesses here have far fewer reviews than they deserve, not because customers are unwilling, but because nobody ever asked them.
Why reviews carry more weight in Dubai than almost anywhere
The UAE has smartphone penetration above 98 per cent, one of the highest rates in the world. More than 92 per cent of Dubai consumers use Google to find a local business, over 70 per cent of UAE consumers use Google Maps specifically, and around 72 per cent of local searches include "near me" or a location term. Your listing is the shop window.
There is a second reason that is specific to this market. Dubai has a highly transient population, so a huge share of your potential customers have no local friend to ask. They cannot rely on word of mouth because they have only been here eight months. Your reviews are the word of mouth.
Reviews also move you up the map. According to 2026 local search ranking research, review quality, volume and recency make up roughly 20 per cent of total local ranking weight, with Google Business Profile signals adding another 32 per cent or so. If you have already claimed and filled out your profile, reviews are the next biggest lever available to you.
How to actually ask, which is the bit most businesses skip
Open your Google Business Profile, find the "Ask for reviews" option and copy your short review link. That link is the whole system. Everything below is just getting it in front of people at the right moment.
- Ask within 24 hours. The window closes fast. Ask on the day the job was finished, the meal was eaten or the delivery landed.
- Ask in person, then follow up on WhatsApp. A verbal ask followed by the link on WhatsApp converts far better than a cold email. Save it as a WhatsApp Business quick reply so staff can send it in two taps.
- Put a QR code where the win happens. On the receipt, the table talker, the invoice footer, the back of the business card, the delivery note.
- Add the link to your email signature and to your automated booking confirmations.
- Give your team a one-line script. Something like "If you have two minutes, a Google review really helps us." Train it once and it becomes routine.
Aim for a steady drip. Two to four new reviews a month, every month, beats forty in one week. Google notices recency, and a sudden spike after months of silence looks exactly like what it usually is.
What you are not allowed to do
This is where well-meaning businesses get burned. Google explicitly prohibits offering money, discounts, free products or any other incentive in exchange for a review. It also prohibits review gating, which means filtering customers so only the happy ones get asked, and it prohibits telling customers what to write. Breaking these rules can cost you your reviews, or your listing.
Buying reviews is worse. Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 criminalises false online information that harms reputation in the UAE, with reported fines reaching AED 500,000 for aggravated offences. That law cuts both ways. It covers fabricated positive reviews, and it also covers people who post malicious false claims about your business or try to use a bad review as leverage.
Replying is where the money actually is
Businesses that respond to at least 25 per cent of their reviews earn around 35 per cent more revenue on average. Replying is free, takes ninety seconds, and almost nobody in Dubai does it consistently.
Reply within 48 hours. Use the customer's name. Mention what you did and where you did it, naturally, because that text is indexed and helps your local relevance. For a bad review, thank them, take responsibility for the part that is yours, give a direct contact and move the conversation offline. Do not argue in public and never mention their nationality, employer or anything personal.
One more thing worth knowing: a flawless 5.0 rating converts worse than a 4.5 to 4.8 with a handful of honest three-star reviews and good replies underneath them. People trust the imperfect version.
Turn your reviews into content
A five-star review is a free testimonial that you paid nothing for. Set it in your brand colours and it becomes an Instagram post, a story, a carousel slide, a website section and a LinkedIn graphic. Displaying customer reviews on your site has been shown to lift sales by close to 20 per cent, and a well-designed review graphic performs consistently well on social because it is social proof rather than self-promotion.

Frequently asked questions
How many Google reviews does my Dubai business need?
There is no magic number. The practical target is to have more recent reviews than the three competitors who appear above you in the local map pack for your main search term. For most Dubai SMEs that means a steady two to four new reviews a month rather than a one-off burst, because Google weighs recency and a sudden spike looks manufactured.
Can I offer a discount or a free coffee for a Google review in the UAE?
No. Google prohibits offering money, discounts, free products or any other incentive in exchange for a review, and the penalty ranges from having reviews stripped to having your listing suspended. Asking everyone, with no reward attached, is both compliant and more effective.
How do I get a fake or unfair Google review removed?
Report it in your Google Business Profile under the review, flagging the specific policy it breaks, such as spam, conflict of interest or off-topic content. Reply publicly and calmly while you wait, because most readers judge you on the reply rather than the complaint.
Do Google reviews actually help me rank higher on Google Maps?
Yes. Review quality, volume and recency account for roughly 20 per cent of local search ranking weight in 2026, second only to your Google Business Profile signals at around 32 per cent. Reviews are the biggest ranking lever most Dubai businesses are not pulling.
